Why most QR codes fail

- No. The code is a static image encoding your content directly. Many free generators create a code pointing at their own redirect URL, which lets them track scans and, on some services, disable the code later or start charging. This one encodes your content itself, so there is no middleman and nothing to expire.
- Is what I encode sent anywhere?
- No. The code is generated in your browser. This is worth caring about when you are encoding a Wi-Fi password or a private link, which is exactly what people most often put into a QR generator.
- Why does my code look so dense and complicated?
- Because of how much data it holds. A QR code grows in complexity with content length, and a dense code needs to be printed larger or held closer to scan reliably. If yours looks like noise, shorten the content: use a short link rather than a long tracking URL.
- How big should I print it?
- A rough rule is that the code should be at least a tenth of the scanning distance. Readable from two metres means roughly 20 centimetres across. Keep a clear quiet zone of white space around it, and never print it in low contrast; light grey on white is the most common reason a code fails to scan.
